Being sick or having an illness is never fun. Some of us might prefer going to the doctor right away, while others prefer something more natural to cure their illnesses. One example is to use a natural remedy or more for eye stye.
But first of all, what is an eye stye? What kind of natural remedies that can cure it?
A glimpse on eye stye:
It is when you suddenly have a big, red lump on your eyelid or even inside it. Some may start from the root of your eyelash. It is caused by a bacterial infection. If the lump is inside of your eyelid, it is caused by an overactive tiny gland when producing oil. Some of it stick inside and start forming into a lump.
More problems arise because of its existence. Not only you have a hard time keeping your eyes open, your eyes tend to tear and the stye disturbs your vision and affects your performance.
Generally, having an eye stye only lasts about three to seven days. However, in some cases, it can lasts longer than that. Do not wait until after three weeks, because that will be the best time to visit your doctor for further medical treatment.
However, you may prefer handling it by yourself first. Before you go to your doctor, perhaps these natural remedies for your eye stye can help you.
Natural remedies for your eye stye:
This is the most commonly-used method to treat your eye stye. Use a clean towel or a washcloth. Dip it into the warm water before wringing out the excess water. Place the soaked towel or washcloth on the infected area for five until ten minutes. Do this every night before you go to sleep until it heals.
Green tea is not only perfect to boost your immune system from within. It also works wonderfully as a natural remedy for your eye stye. Dip a bag of it in warm water for five minutes. You can squeeze the excess water out a bit before putting it on your infected eyelid for five minutes. Do this every day until the eye stye goes away.
You can also use regular tea bags for this method. Better yet, why not drink and do this as well? Consider this a double protection for your body.
Not just green tea, coriander seeds also consist of anti-inflammatory properties. They are also popular to cure your eye stye. With a teaspoon of coriander seeds and water, boil them until the mixture is hot. Wait until it cools down a bit before washing your infected eyelid with it. Just do this three times a day until it works out.
Just like what you do with coriander seeds above, you can also do the same thing with turmeric. This is also an amazing natural remedy for your eye stye. Another alternative regarding the use of turmeric is to drink it with a cup of warm milk. Mix one teaspoon of turmeric powder in it before you drink it. Try this for a week every night before you sleep until the lump in your eyelid disappears.
No worries, of course you do not drink this. Just a few drops of mild baby shampoo into a cup of warm water before you mix it well. Then soak a cotton ball into the mixture. After that, gently wash the outer eyelid with the wet cotton ball.
Once you are done with that step, it is time to rinse the infected area with warm water. Then use a clean, warm compress to cover the bump. (You can warm the washcloth or the towel up above the steaming hot water first.) Do that for five to ten minutes.
Try this method for a week and see the bump on your eyelid slowly disappear.
Aloe vera has been popular as a shampoo ingredient and food. (Yes, there is aloe vera jell-o.) You can even drink it too.
However, do you know that aloe vera is also famous as a natural remedy for your eye stye? It helps to reduce the swelling and redness caused by that big lump on your eyelid. Just extract the gel from the leaf and rub it on the infected area. Leave it for 20 minutes. After that, wash the aloe vera gel with warm water.
Try this method three times a day. See the result in five days.
Potatoes are probably your favorite food, but you can do more than just eating them. To treat your eye stye, grate a medium-sized one before wrapping it in a cheesecloth. Then place the cheesecloth on your infected eyelid for five or ten minutes. Try this method three times a day and see the result after the fourth day.
It turns out that natural remedies for eye stye are not that hard to find. They are much closer to home than you think.
