Does birth control cause cellulite?

With all raising fund for living todays, people think about planning many aspects, not to exclude pregnancies. Although birth control is still debatable and some societies do not take side on this family planning program, there is a rising statistic about the use of birth control pills. Birth control is usually employed to prevent unwanted pregnancy or to give sufficient interval between pregnancies.

How is birth control done?

Prevention of pregnancy can be done by preventing woman ovulation. When there is no egg to fertilize, a woman won’t be pregnant. This is the simple principle that is used in birth control programs. A woman releases this fertile egg during her month cycle. When this egg is fertilized by a man’s sperm, pregnancy happens. Birth control which is done mostly through contraception aims to inhibit this process by eliminating the fertile egg.

Birth control is the most common birth control method used widely. This is a daily pill which contains hormones to prevent pregnancy. The hormones found in birth control pills control the uterus and ovaries. Usually, birth control pills contain the combination of estrogen and progesterone which is used for controlling ovulation. Besides controls ovulation, these pills also thicken mucus around woman’s cervix so that man’s sperms cannot easily enter the uterus to fertilize the egg.

Does birth control cause cellulite?

Some women report the occurrence of cellulite after they first took the pregnancy prevention pills. In fact, is birth control really causing cellulite? To begin with, we need to consider birth control pills content which are mostly hormones. These hormones are taken to modulate uterus and ovaries work in a woman’s body. Cellulite is an issue which can be caused by hormones fluctuation in someone’s body. Although not all women experience cellulite occurrence after birth control pills taking, this “additional” hormones put into your body are believed to distract your hormone balance and trigger cellulite formation.

Most birth control pills contain estrogen and progestin hormones. However, this might vary because not all pills are made equal. Estrogen is a female hormone which mostly induces cellulite formation. It is understandable that women experience cellulite formation during pregnancy, because estrogen is mostly produced during those 38 weeks. Cellulite is a natural process in women body when estrogen is circulating. Estrogen is a hormone which breaking down body natural collagen in women’s cervix to provide smooth baby passage for delivery. When natural collagen beneath our skin is destroyed, connective tissues on skin layer are also breaking down. As our bodies keep producing and saving fats, there is a possibility that those fats bulge up to the dermis and appear to the skin surface as dimply and lumpy areas. With this function of estrogen inside women body, it is possible for some women to develop cellulite after taking birth control pills. However, cellulite occurrence might depend on the entire hormone circulation inside the body, not only estrogen. Hence, the effect of birth control pill might vary over different individuals.

How to use birth control without developing cellulite

To plan your family better, birth control might be a determining factor. Giving intervals between children’s ages help them to develop their skills with sufficient parental guides. Yet, some women are concerned about a common side effect caused by birth control taking, especially cellulite formation. In order to keep this cellulite away, while stick to the plan of preventing pregnancy, you might want to consider a more natural birth control.

The most common natural birth control you might want to try is calendar birth control. This is a birth control program which is based on your monthly cycle. Calendar birth control focuses on your fertile cycle which enables ovulation before and after your menstruation cycle. By knowing this cycle well, you will be able to control your pregnancy without having to take any kinds of pills.

This is a safer method, since it does not affect your metabolism and hormonal cycles. It does not have any side effects, as well. As long as you know what is happening with your hormones and cycle, you will be able to have your family planning.
