Does weight lifting help with cellulite?

Cellulite for some of us can be an annoying even a humiliating skin problem. This is normal as commonly people relate cellulite with being fat or less exercises. In fact, cellulite is not only caused by overweight and less exercise. Instead, it is also hereditary. If your parents or grandparents suffer from the phenomenon of this dimply things, you are more likely to have it, too. Besides, pregnant women are also in the risk of having cellulite, which might not vanish even after delivery. Cellulite can occur in thighs, armpits, buttocks, or stomach. As those are dimply and visible, people, especially women are ashamed of that. Hence, they look for any way to get rid of the thing permanently. Some women are obsessed on weight loss, since they think this is the most effective way of getting rid of cellulite. Yet, even after losing significant weight, they report to still have cellulite whatsoever. People then are told that weight lifting help to get rid of cellulite. Is it true? Can you reduce cellulite by doing weight lifting? In order to find the correlation between cellulite occurrence and weight lifting, we need to first see how cellulite is formed.

Cellulite formation in our body

Cellulite is a dimply area of our skin which is caused by loosened up fat tissues. Cellulite can happen to men and women, although women are more susceptible. Women have the ability to form certain fat tissues which is influenced by hormones. Hence, pregnant women are commonly undergoing cellulite. Cellulite occurs in skin fat layer. It happens when the elasticity of connective tissues decreased. In women with cellulite, these connective tissues which loosened up form a chamber-like structures which enable fat to build up on the dermis area to tighten up these tissues. As the buttocks, hips, and stomach are the areas where large amount of fat are stores, these areas are the most common cellulite residences.

What is the relation between weight lifting and cellulite?

Exercises in any kinds, such as running, aerobic, fitness, and weight lifting are activities which are purposed to promote proper metabolism. Proper metabolism means sufficient blood flow, healthy heart rates, and faster calories burning. A proper metabolism leads to better health condition. When you do a weight lifting, you are gaining more muscles. These muscles contribute to your increasing metabolic rate. When your body metabolism raises, you burn more calories faster. If you burn more calories faster, you are more likely to store less fat. You have known that the occurrence of cellulite has a close relation to fat storage, although there are some other factors to pay attention to. Cellulite is trapped between connective tissues which are filled with fat. You might have seen other women with the same weight with you have no cellulite problem. This might be caused by the difference of connective tissues formation between your bodies. Women with no cellulite have connective tissues with an ability to keep the fat inside the dermis, not bulge up to the dermis. Weight lifting, therefore, can remodel your connective tissues. As it builds more muscles, it might help reducing the chamber-like areas between your tissues. As it also reduces fat storage, it might help to lessen the bulge up fat between the connective tissues. As a result, your cellulite might not disappear completely, but will seem smoother, instead. Losing weight is also believed to help reducing cellulite, because it relieve the pressure between the fat layer and the connective tissue, which is the main cause of the appearance of cellulite. If the pressure is reduced, you will have less dimply areas on your skin.

Weight lifting might be an alternative to cope with cellulite, although the effect might be different among people. Eating healthy diet and take sufficient exercises are also needed to reconstruct your fat layer and connective tissues. Reducing fatty foods and drinks are not only healthier but also decreasing your dimpled skin. Other home remedies, such as the coffee-ground massage treatment might also be tried in order to fade your cellulite. This is one of the safer alternative for pregnant women which wish to reduce the effect of cellulite during pregnancy.
