White-colored stretch marks on your stomach, armpit areas, or buttocks—or what-so-called as cellulite are very common. Up to 90 percent of women have this on their bodies. Stretch marks do not usually cause pain, yet they are so annoying and ruin your physical appearance. Although you can cover your cellulite-infected areas with clothes and accessories, you might want to know how to get rid of them completely.
How does cellulite occur?
Cellulite is a condition of lumpy skin areas because of the underlying fat deposits. The skin area which is infected by cellulite may seem like an orange peel. Hence, this is the most common association for cellulite. In fact, cellulite can infect both men and women, yet women are more likely to have it. This is because women tend to have particular types of fat and hormone reactions. In a pregnant woman, cellulite occurrence is higher in possibility. When you have cellulite, the skin area which is infected might lose its elasticity and tends to become thicker than the surrounding areas. Although cellulite rarely cause conditions which need medical attention, it might cause itches and soreness.
What causes cellulite?
Although cellulite is believed to be genetically transmitted, there are several things which are also considered as the culprits of its occurrence. Some of those are:
-
Hormones
Hormones are believed to trigger the occurrence of cellulite. The women hormones are believed to be the more possible cause. Estrogen and prolactin are couple of those. Hence, in pregnant women where estrogen and prolactin production heightened, the possibility of having cellulite is also raising.
-
Genetics
This is believed to be the main factor of cellulite production in someone’s body. If your mother or grandmother are having cellulite, you are more likely to undergo it as well.
-
Diet
Fat, carbohydrate, and salt are believed to be the kinds of diet triggering cellulite. Consuming not enough fiber might also cause cellulite occurrence.
-
Clothing
Too tight undergarments or clothes which do not absorb sweat well can contribute in forming cellulite, especially in buttock areas.
-
Lack of exercises and smoking
These two things decrease your blood pressure flow. Hence, it may damage connective tissue and lead to cellulite. Do some running or other exercise such as weight lifting or strength training.
How should cellulite be treated?
Massages are believed to promote better blood circulation which can reduce cellulite. Regular pneumatic massages can be done to get rid of cellulite eventually. Besides, heat therapy is also believed to be a treatment for cellulite. Some people also believe that acupuncture is able to remove cellulite. Yet, none of these treatments are scientifically proven to work. Some massages might reduce cellulite temporarily, but not permanently. The same thing happens with heat therapy and acupuncture. As a result, home remedies are used more frequently to treat the problem. One of a well-known home remedy for cellulite is coffee grounds.
Coffee grounds contain enormous number of antioxidants. It is important to use fresh ground coffee in order to maximize its effect on cellulite. To apply this coffee ground treatment you will need:
Half-cup fresh ground coffee
Three tablespoon hot water
Three tablespoon olive oil
A clean washcloth
To make the mixture: mix the fresh ground coffee with three tablespoon hot water. Leave it sit for 15 minutes to form a paste. Afterwards, add three tablespoon olive oil into the paste and stir. Olive oil will give additional moisturizer which is important for nourishing the affected areas later. Rinse the affected area with warm water then apply the coffee ground paste in circular motions. You need to rub the affected area in circular motions for approximately 5 minutes. After that, you can rinse the excess with warm water. Make sure all is completely washed to avoid skin irritation. Pat the area dry and moisture. You need to do this treatment regularly to get the maximum effect. This is not an instant treatment, but it is far cheaper and natural than the treatments you get in beauty salon or medical institutions.
Caffeine in ground coffee will work as a stimulant in your blood vessels. It will tighten the tissues and hence, fade the cellulite in the affected areas. The antioxidants in caffeine also help releasing the toxin from all over your body. As the result, you will get a healthier blood stream which eventually get rid of cellulite permanently.
